This site makes money from referrals. That is not a secret, and it is not a problem, provided you always know where the money is, and provided it never touches the judgement. Here is exactly how that works.
An honest guide with a commercial model has one structural risk: that the reader stops believing it. Everything below exists to make that risk visible and testable rather than a matter of trusting our tone of voice.

Rankings are never for sale
No entry in The 47, and no position within it, can be bought, traded, or influenced by a commercial relationship. There is no package that includes it. If you are told otherwise by anyone, they do not work here.

We disclose every commercial relationship, on the page it appears
Where we earn a referral fee, a commission, or a retainer, we say so where you encounter it, not in a footer, not on a separate page you have to find. If a paragraph recommends someone who pays us, that paragraph says so.

We only recommend what we would use
A referral relationship lets us earn from an introduction. It never obliges us to make one. If the partner who pays us is not the right answer for your situation, we send you to the one who is, and we earn nothing. This happens regularly and it is the entire point.

We visit before we write
No restaurant, hotel, clinic or shop is described from a press release. Where a piece is based on a single visit, it says when. Where we have not been, we say that instead of borrowing someone else's adjectives.

Prices carry a date
Property figures, tax thresholds and fee structures move. Every number we publish is stamped with when it was checked and where it came from. A figure with no date is a rumour.

We are journalists, not advisers
Nothing here is tax, legal, medical or investment advice, and none of it is a substitute for a professional who is accountable to you. We tell you what the decision is and who is worth asking. We do not tell you what to do.

Your enquiry is not a lead we sell
What you tell the desk goes to the specific partners you agree to be introduced to, and to nobody else. We do not sell, rent or syndicate the contact details of the people who write to us. Not to advertisers, not to agencies, not ever.

We publish our corrections
When we get something wrong we fix it in place, and we say what changed and when at the foot of the piece. Silent edits are how publications lose the readers who were paying attention.

Tell us. Write to desk@livingtheta.com with the page and what is wrong with it. If you are right, we will correct it and say so publicly. If we disagree, we will tell you why rather than quietly do nothing.
An editorial policy that has never cost its publisher a piece of business is not a policy. It is decoration.
