AETER has been running from Athens since 1984. It was appointed lead architect on the Astir Palace redevelopment at the start of the programme and stayed through it: 301,865 square metres on the Lemos peninsula, the Arion and Nafsika hotels, the bungalows and the amenities, opened as the Four Seasons Astir Palace in March 2019.
The same office designed the new front-of-house structures — the standalone building that is now Beefbar, the guardhouses, the tennis club — and is on the Astir Marina redevelopment.
What that tells a private client
Very little about taste and a great deal about process. Delivering that site is an administrative achievement as much as a design one, and process is what fails on private houses here.
The commission also included luxury residences on the former Aphrodite Hotel site — developer housing inside the Astir project rather than a private-client villa, which is a distinction worth keeping straight when the name comes up in a sales conversation.
The landscape on the same job went to doxiadis+. Between them they are the two names from the largest piece of building this coast has seen in fifty years.
