Beefbar took a glass pavilion in the pines on the Astir peninsula, designed by the Monaco practice Humbert & Poyet, above the water. It is a steakhouse: marbled cuts, the group’s street-food register alongside them, and a vegetable counter called the Leafbar.
The missing category
This coast is well supplied with tasting menus at one end and fried calamari at the other. What it has had very little of is the middle: a proper room, open every night, where the order is a chop and a bottle and the evening is over in two hours.
For a household living here rather than visiting, that middle is most of the year. The starred rooms are five nights or five months; this is not.
And the usual caution
A pavilion in the pines above the Saronic at sunset is a view, and the view is priced separately whether or not it is itemised. Beefbar is a format that exists in Monte Carlo and Dubai; what is specific to this one is the site.
It holds no Michelin star and we say so rather than letting the address imply one.
