Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso

Resort and thalassotherapy centre · Kavouri, Vouliagmeni

A 3,500 square metre seawater therapy centre attached to a hotel, on a headland with no comparable facility. The spa is the reason to know about it, not the rooms.

Kavouri is the western half of Vouliagmeni, it is mostly church land and an air force camp, and almost nothing on it is open in winter. In the middle of that sits a 278-room hotel with six dining rooms and a 3,500 square metre seawater therapy centre, which is the largest facility of its kind on this coastline and the reason the address is worth knowing.

What thalassotherapy actually is

Treatment using heated seawater, marine mud and algae, delivered through pools, jets and wraps. It is a long-established European spa tradition, particularly in France and Greece, and at this scale it is a serious piece of infrastructure rather than a treatment room with a name.

It is also a wellness category and not a medical one, and the distinction matters. The test we would apply to any clinic on this coast applies here too: who is clinically accountable, what is being claimed, and is anyone with a licence physically present. A hotel spa is a hospitality product using some clinical vocabulary, and the pricing in this category sometimes implies otherwise.

None of which is an argument against it. Warm seawater, movement and time are among the few interventions that reliably help, and a facility this size on a headland with nothing else is genuinely useful. It is an argument against reading the brochure as medicine.

The six dining rooms, and why the number is deliberate

The group's F&B coordinator, Pierre Feuillas, has described the strategy directly in trade press: six options from morning to evening across different settings, so the property functions as a complete dining destination for people who are not staying there.

He has also given the number that explains why every resort on this coast is now doing this — dining accounts for roughly 30% of turnover at seaside resorts. That is the commercial logic behind the shift, and it happens to be good for residents.

Six dining rooms is not generosity. It is a resort discovering that a third of its revenue arrives through the restaurant door rather than the reception desk.

On a headland where almost everything closes out of season, a property with six rooms and a reason to keep them open is a practical asset in February rather than a luxury in August.

One thing to note about the beach

Kavouri beach holds no 2026 Blue Flag. Of Attica's seventeen, the nearest are Vouliagmeni and Astir Beach, with Glyfada, Glyfada A, Glyfada B and Voula A north of that.

That is not evidence of poor water — participation is voluntary and the award covers thirty-three criteria — and Greek bathing water was rated excellent at 97.1% nationally in the 2025 season with none rated poor. Kavouri's roughly 900 metres of largely free beach is described by the Region of Attica as among the most beautiful in Attica. But the certification runs from Glyfada southward and skips this stretch, and we would rather say so than let an absence pass as an endorsement.
