Matsuhisa Athens sits in the grounds of the Four Seasons Astir Palace, on a terrace over the Saronic Gulf, in a room by the Rockwell Group. It reopened with the hotel in 2019 and cooks the Nikkei style — the Japanese-Peruvian fusion Nobu Matsuhisa built in Los Angeles and then exported.
Why it matters more than the star count suggests
It has no Michelin star. It is also the only kitchen at this level on the Athens Riviera that opens seven nights a week and serves lunch at the weekend.
Pelagos, on the same estate, does dinner five nights. Patio at The Margi does nine tables for five months. For a household that lives here rather than visits, availability is a feature and it is the one nobody puts in a listicle.
What you are actually buying
A format. The black cod, the yellowtail with jalapeño, the new-style sashimi — these are the same dishes in Aspen and in Mykonos, executed to a standard the group polices. That consistency is the product, and whether it is a virtue or a limitation depends entirely on what you wanted from an evening on a Greek headland.
The counter-argument is the one this site makes about the whole coast: the room with the view is priced separately, and a global format on a terrace is the purest version of that trade.
