Spondi opened in Pangrati and has been awarded by the Michelin Guide continuously since 2002 — the longest unbroken run in Greece. The building gives it two internal courtyards and a set of vaulted stone dining rooms, which is an unusually complete hand for an Athens restaurant.
What it is for
This is the classical end of the city: French technique, a long wine programme, and service in the old sense. Trade coverage in April 2026 has Arnaud Bignon overseeing the kitchen, holding the house to its French orientation without abandoning an international reach.
For a household on the coast it is a specific kind of evening rather than a general recommendation. The useful question is not whether it is good — twenty-four years of stars answers that — but whether the French room is the one you want tonight.
Open all year, which is rarer than it should be
The courtyards are the summer argument and the vaulted rooms are the winter one, and a room that works in both seasons is the whole test we apply to everything on this coast. Most terraces on the Riviera fail it.
The star dates from the 2024 selection, as all standing Athens stars do. We have not eaten here.
