Vezené

Modern Greek, fire and aged meat · Vrasida 11, near Evangelismos

Open every day until one in the morning, built on fire, aged meat and a glass porch. No star, and the room least interested in having one.

The list it is not on

It holds no Michelin star and is not a Bib Gourmand. It is also, consistently, one of the first names an Athenian gives when asked where to eat — which is a different signal, and on this site not a lesser one.

Awards measure a kitchen against a standard. Repeat local recommendation measures it against every other option those people had on a Tuesday. We would rather have the second, and say so.

What it gives a household on the coast

Fire and meat, done seriously — the one thing the Riviera does not have. The coast’s kitchens are built around fish and a horizon; almost nothing here is built around a hearth.

It is also open on the nights nothing else is. We have not eaten here.

A table, and the right one

We do not run a booking service. We do know which rooms are worth a Tuesday, who is cooking rather than plating, and which kitchens will send someone to your house. Ask and we will tell you what we would do.

  • 01 A human reads it. Always.
  • 02 We name names, and we say why.

  • 04 Nothing you send us is sold to anyone.

Where we earn a referral fee we say so on the page it appears. Nothing in the editorial rankings is for sale. Read the charter.
