Clubs · Events · Philanthropy · Access

You can buy the house in eight weeks. The part that takes eighteen months is knowing forty people, and it is the part that decides whether you are still here in five years.

The part of moving here that money alone does not solve.

What Actually
Matters Here

The framework, not a listing. Rules and figures are sourced and current as of August 2026; anything that would name a business waits for an editor who has been there.

  1. 01

This is the actual reason people leave

Relocations at this level rarely fail on tax, property or schools. They fail because eighteen months in, the household has a beautiful house and no one to have dinner with on a Wednesday. Everyone plans the first three; almost nobody plans the fourth.

  2. 02

Greek social life runs on introduction, not membership

There is no institution here you can join that substitutes for being introduced. Clubs exist (sailing, tennis, golf) and they are useful, but they follow the relationship rather than create it. The functional unit is the dinner table, and you need someone to seat you at one.

  3. 03

Philanthropy is the most direct door, and it is not cynical

Serious Greek philanthropy is concentrated, visible and welcoming to newcomers who show up rather than write a cheque and leave. It is a genuine contribution and simultaneously the fastest legitimate route into the room. Both things are true and neither cancels the other.

  4. 04

Language matters far more than anyone will tell you

Everyone you deal with professionally will speak excellent English, which is exactly why almost no arrival learns Greek, and why so few ever move from being hosted to belonging. A hundred words of it changes how you are received in a way that no amount of money does.

The Desk · The Circle

A table, eighteen seats, once a month

We host a small dinner for people who have recently moved here and people who have been here a long time. It is not a networking event and there is no membership. Tell us who you are and what you are interested in, and we will let you know when there is a seat.

  • 01 A human reads it. Always.
  • 02 We name names, and we say why.
  • 03 Any commercial relationship is disclosed up front.
  • 04 Nothing you send us is sold to anyone.

Where we earn a referral fee we say so on the page it appears. Nothing in the editorial rankings is for sale. Read the charter.

What is this about?

We reply within one working day. Your details are never sold or passed on without your say-so.

What opened, what closed, what quietly changed hands, and the one thing worth your Saturday. Read by roughly four hundred people who live between Alimos and Sounio, and by the people who advise them.
