Mediterraneo Hospital

Private general hospital · Glyfada

The only full private hospital on the Athens Riviera. This is where a Vouliagmeni household goes at two in the morning instead of driving to Marousi.

An empty hospital corridor, numbered doors and waiting benches under strip light.

Commercial relationship

None. LivingTheta has no commercial relationship with Mediterraneo Hospital, receives nothing from it, and holds no referral arrangement in this category.

Mediterraneo sits on Ilias Street in Glyfada, 164 beds and more than twenty-five specialties, and it is the only full private hospital on this coastline. Everything else at this level is in Marousi, Neo Faliro or on Mesogeion.

The two-in-the-morning hospital

That is the function. A household in Vouliagmeni or Kavouri is between nine and ten kilometres from this building and thirty-five to fifty minutes from the Marousi cluster depending on traffic. In an emergency that difference is the whole decision.

The named centres are where the substance is: an acute stroke unit running around the clock, spine neurosurgery, cardiac work including TAVI and cardiac MRI with European CMR laboratory accreditation, a breast clinic, and radiotherapy on an Edge linear accelerator.

What it is not

It is smaller than Hygeia, Athens Medical Center or Henry Dunant, and it holds no JCI accreditation. What it does hold is BS EN 15224, the healthcare-specific quality standard, and it was the first hospital in Greece to get it.

The right way to use this coast is both: this hospital for the ordinary week and the emergency, and Marousi for anything that needs a tertiary campus. How Greek private healthcare actually works sets out the insurance side of that.

The Desk · The Body

A doctor before you need one

The worst time to find a physician is the week you need one. Tell us the household: ages, existing conditions, whether you want a coordinating doctor or a specific specialist, and we will make introductions.

  • 01 A human reads it. Always.
  • 02 We name names, and we say why.
  • 03 Any commercial relationship is disclosed up front.
  • 04 Nothing you send us is sold to anyone.

Where we earn a referral fee we say so on the page it appears. Nothing in the editorial rankings is for sale. Read the charter.

What is this about?

We reply within one working day. Your details are never sold or passed on without your say-so.
